How Our Professionals Give Back

On Saturday mornings, Adam Swissman volunteers his time at the PETCO store in Rockville, Maryland handling dogs at a weekly adoption event. During the events, Adam speaks with potential adopters providing information about the dogs’ age, breed, history, personality, and other pertinent information. He also conducts adoption interviews to ensure a good fit between the dogs and the potential adopters. Additionally, Adam assists with the training of new volunteers.

About Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation

Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF) is a non-profit animal rescue organization which saves the lives of thousands of homeless and abandoned pets each year. LDCRF rescues dogs and cats facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters, and places them for adoption. LDCRF places about 2,000 dogs and cats each year into adoptive homes, totaling more than 25,000 since 2001!

Each weekend, volunteers run eight adoption events in the DC-Metro area at PetSmart and PETCO stores. The dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccines and routine tests before adoption.

Most dogs and cats await adoption at the 61-acre Lost Dog & Cat Ranch in Sumerduck, Virginia. Those needing special care or are too young for adoption are in foster homes until they are ready for their forever families.
