Craig Bowen is a Managing Director at Ankura based in London. He has over 15 years of turnaround and transformation experience leading management teams through periods of financial stress. He specializes in financial and operational transformation programs and has worked with multinational clients in Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Australia.

Experience

Prior to joining Ankura, Craig worked at a global consulting firm where he led several transformation projects, focusing on operating model redesign, business planning, cost reduction planning and controls, and cash and working capital improvements.

Craig’s professional experience includes:

  • Developed the business plan and transformation roadmap for a bank in Lebanon. This included development of a variety of new revenue-generating products and initiatives and the redesign of the client’s organization structure and operating footprint to help improve profitability and position the bank for growth.
  • Finance leader on the transformation of the corporate function of a global manufacturing conglomerate. Responsible for teams that delivered non-people costs savings of over $500 million USD and ensured the timely progress and P&L impact of these savings initiatives.
  • Established the cost transformation program for a UK listed retailer. This included leading a review of the cost reduction opportunities, presenting findings to the management board, and establishing divisional cost reduction targets and processes to report and track progress.
  • Worked within the office of the CRO for an international steel trading company to support the company through a financial restructuring and operational improvement program. The work included projects to reduce cost base by identification of non-core business and development of disposal strategies, and development of a working capital improvement program to improve liquidity and trade finance capacity.
  • Worked for a Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund to stabilize financial operations at a large investment in the construction sector. Responsible for establishing expenditure and cash controls to ensure that priority projects could be completed and minimize funding requirements.
  • Advisor to the board of an Indian mine and pellet plant to support a financial restructuring following the closure of the mine. Supported the negotiations with a syndicate of seven Indian lenders.
  • Led the business plan review to support refinancing discussions on behalf of the secured lenders to a European leisure business.
  • Interim cash manager for a UK insurance broker. Designed and implemented a new budget and reforecast process as well as a new short-term cash flow forecast process and working capital improvement plan.
  • Advisor to the board of an international cosmetics retailer to review its supply chain, working capital cycles, and inventory reporting processes.
  • Interim cash manager for a UK printing business to design and implement new liquidity controls and reporting processes on behalf of its shareholders.
