Craig Bowen is a Managing Director at Ankura based in London. He has over 15 years of turnaround and transformation experience leading management teams through periods of change. Craig specializes in financial and operational transformation programs and has worked with multinational clients in Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Australia.

Experience

He joined Ankura from a global consulting firm where he led several transformation projects focusing on operating model redesign, business planning, cost reduction planning and controls and cash and working capital improvements.

Craig’s professional experience includes:

  • Established the cost transformation program for a UK listed retailer. This included leading a review of the cost reduction opportunities, presenting findings to the management board, and establishing divisional cost reduction targets and processes to report and track progress.
  • Developed and end-to-end working capital improvement plan for a global airport services business. The plan included a range of medium-term and long-term solutions complete with deliverable actions and measurable targets.
  • Finance leader on the transformation of the corporate function of a global manufacturing conglomerate. Responsible for teams that delivered non-people costs savings of over $500 million and ensured the timely progress and P&L impact of these savings initiatives.
  • Supported a UK outdoor education platform by providing additional executive leadership capability and capacity to stabilize operations and design and implement a cost reduction program across the portfolio.
  • Supported a UK building materials distributor to develop an inventory improvement program that included a variety of different initiatives covering SKU-rationalization, product categorization and strategies and demand planning and purchasing processes.
  • Worked with an international steel trading company to support the company through an operational improvement program. The work included projects to reduce its cost base by identification of non-core disposal strategies and development of a working capital improvement program.
  • Supported the transformation program for a UK insurance broker. Designed and implemented a new budget and reforecast process as well as a new short-term cash flow forecast process and working capital improvement plan.
  • Developed the business plan and transformation roadmap for a bank in Lebanon. This included developing a variety of new revenue-generating products and initiatives and the redesign of the organization structure and operating footprint to improve profitability and position the bank for growth.
  • Worked with an international steel trading company to support the company through an operational improvement program. The work including projects to reduce its cost base by identification of non-core business and development of disposal strategies and development of a working capital improvement program to improve liquidity and trade finance capacity.
  • Advisor to the board of an international cosmetics retailer to review its supply chain, working capital cycles and inventory reporting processes.
  • Worked for a sovereign wealth fund to support management and stabilize financial operations at a large investment in the construction sector.
