Senior Managing Director
John F. Stark is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura, based in San Francisco. John has 25 years of legal, compliance, and investigative experience partnering with law firms and corporations to address complex financial, regulatory, and reputational risk in global disputes and investigations. He works across high-stakes matters, coordinating closely with clients to align expert analysis with litigation and regulatory risk.
Experience
John has supported a broad range of matters with multidisciplinary expert teams that provide functional expertise in forensic accounting, economics and statistics, e-discovery, and compliance, alongside deep industry knowledge in the healthcare, banking, technology, and energy sectors.
These engagements have included complex commercial, class action, and white-collar litigation; international arbitration; internal corporate and government investigations; federal monitorships; and a range of federal and state compliance matters.
In addition, John advises on industry and issue-specific litigation and regulatory trends, helping our clients anticipate and adapt to newly emergent risk.
Previously, John practiced corporate finance law at Shearman & Sterling (now A&O Shearman) in New York. During law school, John worked for multiple financial and regulatory institutions, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Export–Import Bank of the United States.
