Leanne Tanner is a Senior Director at Ankura and is based in Sydney. She is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in forensic accounting and dispute advisory. Leanne’s experience includes the preparation of expert evidence to address complex financial, accounting, valuation, and economic-related issues in legal matters. She also has extensive experience in monitoring and reporting on compliance with undertakings given to competition authorities following conditional merger clearance.

Quantification of Damages and Valuation
- Preparation of an expert report in response to a counterclaim advanced by a Thai company for the loss of chance to earn dividends from shares it alleged it would have purchased in a Thai real estate management company
- Preparation of quantum advice in relation to a potential claim by a television network arising from the misallocation of audience viewership data by a market measurement firm
- Preparation of an expert report relating to breach of contract by a food provider to airport concessions
- Assessment of loss and preparation of an expert report as part of follow-on litigation for damages suffered as a result of the manipulation of algorithms in favor of the respondent arising from the European Commission’s ‘Google Shopping’ decision on abuse of dominant position in the internet search market. The work was conducted in conjunction with economists
- Assessment of loss and preparation of expert reports for a multinational food group bringing claims for damages relating to abuse of dominance resulting in market foreclosure after the respondent entered outlet exclusivity deals with retailers across Europe. The work was conducted in conjunction with the appointed expert economist
- Preparation of advice in relation to the valuation of palm oil plants in Asia
Accounting and Finance
- Preparation of an expert report appealing the decision of a competition authority to impose a disproportionate financial penalty on a recruitment agency as a result of cartel activity. Accounting question in relation to the interpretation of revenue recognition in the context of determining relevant turnover for the purpose of the fining calculation
- Preparation of advice in relation to an accounting question on accounting for financial liabilities as part of a class action
- Recasting and preparation of financial statements in relation to an earn-out dispute between business partners
Insurance Claims
- Quantification of various business interruption claims, fidelity claims and product recall claims
- Review of insurance policy limits and wording
Approved Independent Auditor (Monitoring Trustee) Services
- Oversaw the implementation of undertakings proposed by merger parties and reported to the competition regulator on various mergers, including:
- Schering-Plough/Organon BioSciences: Monitored the divestment and technical transfer of 12 pharmaceutical and vaccine animal health products in various markets throughout Europe. Reported to the European Commission on the suitability of the potential purchasers
- Honeywell/Elster: Monitored the divestiture of Honeywell’s gas metering business in Germany. Reported to the European Commission on the suitability of the potential purchaser
- FrieslandFoods/Campina: Monitored the divestiture of a dairy business, a carved-out cheese production facility and two integrated brands and the incorporation and operation of an independent body set up to supervise remedies designed to increase competition in the Dutch dairy market. Reported to the European Commission on the suitability of the potential purchasers
