Breach of Contract Disputes

• Served as the damages expert in a matter involving the design and installation of energy-efficient technology in parking garages for a major metropolitan light rail transit system. Addressed financial and economic issues related to contract payments and increased costs claims.
• Analyzed damages in a copyright infringement and breach of contract dispute between two major software developers over the use of certain licenses. Work included recalculating royalty payments owed under different license agreements as well as analyzing over 200 million consumer transactions to identify unpaid royalty bearing units.
• Led project teams in quantifying economic damages due to the defective design of wind turbines installed at commercial windfarms across the United States and Canada.

Class Action Litigation

• Analyzed causation and class damages in a dispute against a major consumer electronics company regarding replacement devices provided under service warranties for over 3.5 million customers.
• Addressed class certification issues in a wage and hour dispute brought forth by current and former professional athletes against a professional sports league. Assisted with settlement distribution.
• Evaluated allegations of unfair business practices, fraud, and other claims against a major entertainment direct marketer. Analyzed over 33 million sales transactions and related marketing promotions to address class certification issues.

Financial and Accounting Investigation

• Assisted a group of universities in analyzing the financial impact of COVID-19, including conducting in-depth financial review of student fees to determine whether additional cost savings occurred as the result of each university’s respective COVID-19 pandemic response.
• Evaluated a $1.7 billion damages claim by institutional investors of a residential mortgage-backed investment facility involved in a decade-long fraudulent scheme. Performed funds tracing for over $30 billion in wire transactions to determine ownership of residential mortgages alleged to have served as collateral for the investment facility.

False Claims Act Litigation

• Analyzed economic damages claimed against a software and technology services provider that allegedly failed to disclose and monitor discounts offered to commercial customers. Analyzed over $18 billion of commercial sales and assessed the comparability to more than $500 million of government purchases.
• Evaluated allegations of fraudulent billings by an academic institution to a government research funding agency. Analyzed over $2 billion of historical billings and collections for thousands of research grants spanning a 15-year period.
