Mark Godfrey

Mark is highly regarded for leading integrated appraisal and valuation advisory engagements for top institutional and private equity clients. He is known for crafting tailored valuation solutions that address diverse client needs, leveraging deep expertise across real estate appraisals, advisory assignments, litigation support, and appraisal reviews. His expertise spans a wide range of property types, and he provides critical insights to many of the nation’s largest lending and equity clients. He tackles complex valuation challenges and has managed national lending relationships involving credit facilities totaling hundreds of billions of dollars annually.

In addition to his valuation expertise, Mark has significant litigation support experience. He has served as an expert in arbitration matters involving ground rent resets and lease renewals and has authored appraisal reports estimating damages related to defaults and deficiencies in real estate disputes.

Mark also brings extensive experience in appraisal review, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to industry standards, an essential component in preserving lender, investor, and stakeholder confidence. His leadership includes oversight of equity valuations across diverse portfolios encompassing office, retail, industrial, multifamily, self storage, senior housing, and data centers, collectively representing more than $500 billion in asset value. His ability to navigate multifaceted valuation challenges and deliver comprehensive, defensible solutions has established him as a respected leader in the commercial real estate advisory field.

Prior to joining Ankura, Mark spent more than three decades at a global commercial real estate and investment firm, where he held numerous production, leadership, and management roles. He served as an Executive Managing Director and was a member of the executive leadership team for the firm’s valuation & advisory services division. Most recently, he acted as U.S. Executive Leader for clients, a role in which he co managed the firm’s U.S. appraisal business.
