Select examples of Michael’s professional experience include advising:
- Exide Technologies, a manufacturer, distributor, and recycler of lead-acid batteries, on the restructuring of over $1.0 billion of debt and sale of its operations through an in-court process.
- High Ridge Brands, a consumer products company, on the restructuring of $500 million of debt and sale of its operations through an in-count process.
- Publicly listed global automotive supplier, on the divestiture of a $250 million subsidiary operation and the evaluation of an international acquisition opportunity.
- Trident Healthcare, a healthcare services company, on an in-court recapitalization, which included restructuring of more than $700 million of debt and raising new-money financing.
- Government contractor in the healthcare industry on an out-of-court recapitalization, which included the restructuring of more than $400 million in debt and raising a new-money financing to fund the company’s subsequent operational turnaround efforts and working capital needs. Since the initial successful restructuring, Michael has assisted with performance improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
- Hastings Entertainment, a media-focused retailer, on turnaround and recapitalization efforts, including assisting with liquidity management, business plan development, assessment of restructuring alternatives, and a sale process which was ultimately completed through an in-court restructuring process.
- Publicly-listed mortgage-servicer with regard to operational improvements related to the treasury function, including the development of a comprehensive liquidity management tool.
- Publicly listed travel company with regard to process improvements related to the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function.
Prior to joining Ankura, Michael was a member of a large consulting firm’s corporate finance and restructuring practice.
