Tim Hampson is a Managing Director at Ankura, where he advises owners, contractors, and counsel on complex capital projects and high-stakes disputes. He is known for helping clients navigate risk, resolve claims efficiently, and protect project outcomes on some of the industry’s most challenging engagements.

With over two decades of experience, Tim works closely with clients to develop practical strategies that align commercial objectives with project realities. He is frequently engaged on matters involving schedule delay, disruption, productivity loss, and damages, where his ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, defensible positions drives successful negotiations and dispute resolution.

Tim’s approach combines deep technical expertise with a strong commercial mindset, enabling clients to make informed decisions early and avoid costly escalation. He also brings a forward-looking perspective on the use of data analytics and emerging AI tools to enhance project controls, risk identification, and dispute strategy. Tim authors expert reports, provides expert witness testimony, and frequently speaks and publishes on delay analysis, risk management, and productivity.

His core areas of expertise include forensic schedule and damages analysis, project advisory and risk management, and the quantification of disruption and productivity impacts, supporting clients across the full lifecycle of capital projects.

  • Serving as a schedule delay expert on a $1 billion natural gas pipeline that incurred over a year of delay.
  • Improving on-site productivity of skilled labor forces and compliance on a $22 billion nucelar facility.
  • Providing expert testimony on delays and damages claimed on a $450 million wastewater treatment plant.
  • Advising an owner on business strategy and justification for project claims arising on a $14 billion natural gas pipeline.
  • Spearheading the development of delay and damages incurred by a contractor on a rail infrastructure project.
  • Supporting a contractor through a trio of arbitrations analyzing delay, damages, and lost productivity claims associated with a power plant expansion project.
  • Providing expert testimony on claimed delay and damages on an 11-mile tunnel repair project.
  • Leading the on-site Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule and risk management for an owner on a $500 million compound.
  • Advising a contractor with on-site CPM schedule and risk management on a $300 million railcar project.
  • Improving a contractor’s change order management program on a $1 billion urban high-rise, mixed-use commercial project.
