Trevor Dick

Since 1999, Trevor has been based in Hong Kong where he has assisted clients in connection with a variety of disputes and investigations concerning technical accounting matters, business interruption claims, investor disputes, acquisitions and disposals, business valuations, and allegations of financial fraud.

Prior to joining Ankura, Trevor spent over 10 years as a partner in the forensic team at a Big 4 global accountancy firm. More recently he was a Managing Director in the dispute services team of a global consulting firm.

Trevor is a practicing member of the Academy of Experts and was recognized as an arbitration expert witness by Who’s Who Legal.

Trevor’s professional experience includes:

• Acted as quantum expert for a French individual involved in HKIAC arbitration proceedings against a Chinese company concerning the failed disposal of a PRC business in the textiles industry. Gave evidence before the Arbitral Tribunal in Hong Kong in connection with the “but for” valuation of the PRC business using a market comparable valuation approach.
• Acted as an expert in Hong Kong High Court Proceedings between multiple individuals and entities concerning the ownership and control of certain real estate and business interests in the PRC. Provided expert evidence as to valuation under various approaches.
• Acted as quantum expert for a Japanese entity involved in HKIAC arbitration proceedings concerning a dispute over the acquisition and establishment of a photovoltaic manufacturing facility in the PRC. Gave evidence before Arbitral Tribunal in Hong Kong in connection with claims for loss of value (using DCF valuation approach) and wasted costs.
• Commented on issues of solvency and liability in connection with a dispute concerning the design, engineering, procurement, supply, delivery, construction, erection, and installation of all elements of a 150MW Biomass fired Power Plant in Thailand. Gave evidence before the Arbitral Tribunal in Singapore.
• Quantum expert for Hong Kong defendant involved in SIAC arbitration proceedings concerning the disposal of a PRC based chain of supermarkets. Considered impact of alleged breaches of warranty on the fair market value of the underlying business. Gave evidence before Arbitral Tribunal in Singapore.
• Acted as one of three professional appraisers in connection with a statutory appraisal process under the BVI Business Companies Act, 2004. Appointed by the parties to fix the fair value of the shares of a Hong Kong Listed Company with multiple investments in the PRC that was subject to compulsory buy-out by a majority shareholder.
• Acted for leading PRC consumer appliances and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) systems manufacturer in relation to a dispute over the alleged wrongful termination of a supply agreement. Quantification of loss of future profits (DCF valuation approach). Gave evidence before Arbitral Tribunal in Singapore.
• Acted for media company defending allegations of defamation brought by PRC Claimant. Gave evidence on quantum of damages before High Court in Hong Kong.
• Assisted a company considering the exercise of a put option over its shareholding in a joint venture in the PRC engaged in the telecommunications industry. Assisted with the development of a valuation model considering the value of the joint venture under various scenarios.
• Acted for a leading international accounting firm that had been sued by its former client for alleged professional negligence in preparation of expert reports for use in litigation. Prepared expert report in connection with issues of liability and valuation. Case before the High Court in Singapore.
• Assisted the former director of a Hong Kong listed company with his defense against criminal charges of False Accounting. Gave evidence before the Hong Kong High Court.
• Quantum expert for U.S. multinational involved in UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings concerning the acquisition of a PRC based supplier of high technologies for industrial manufacturing processes. Considered allegations of lost profits caused by business interference and breach of non-compete obligations and several heads of damage arising from alleged breaches of accounting warranties.
