Ankura Enhances Investigations & Accounting Advisory Practice and Data Analytics Capabilities

July 6, 2016, Washington, DC – Ankura Consulting Group (Ankura), a business advisory and expert services firm, announced today the appointments of Mark McGrath and Christopher Harvey as Senior Managing Directors, Brian McDowell as Managing Director and Bradley Lohmeyer as Senior Director to enhance the firm’s Investigations & Accounting Advisory practice and its data analytics capabilities.
In connection with the appointments of Messrs. McGrath, Harvey and Lohmeyer, Ankura will establish its Chicago office at 30 South Wacker Drive, Suite 2200, Chicago, IL 60606. Mr. McDowell will be based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Mr. Mark McGrath joins Ankura with more than 18 years of experience, specializing in forensic accounting and financial fraud investigation in connection with corporate internal investigations and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations. He has conducted investigations into accounting, reporting and internal control issues, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations at organizations across a range of industries in the public and private sectors. Mr. McGrath’s forensic and financial investigation engagements include examinations into Ponzi schemes, matters involving fraudulent financial reporting and the misapplication of GAAP in connection with revenue recognition; judgmental reserves; accounts receivable; accounting for contingencies; assessing materiality; treatment of accounting changes and auditors’ responsibilities. He also provides forensic accounting and investigative support in the context of business disputes. Mr. McGrath was most recently at FTI Consulting.
Mr. Christopher Harvey joins Ankura with more than 16 years of experience providing clients with data analytic services related to forensic investigations, fraud, litigation support, information technology, risk monitoring, regulatory compliance and financial reporting. Mr. Harvey possesses a strong background in finance and technology, allowing him to lead a holistic approach that considers business and technology related concerns when dealing with clients. He has significant experience in the financial services industry related to fraudulent behavior, funds tracing, trading strategies and processes, system evaluation and testing, and financial and regulatory reporting. He has worked in conjunction with numerous government agencies to develop fact patterns and provide detailed analysis of key information to support investigations, litigations and potential settlement discussions. Mr. Harvey was most recently at FTI Consulting.
Mr. Brian McDowell has more than 17 years of experience in investigations and accounting advisory matters. He specializes in forensic accounting and financial fraud investigations in connection with corporate internal investigations and SEC investigations. Mr. McDowell has worked extensively with outside counsel in representing boards and special committees in a number of complex, fact‐finding accounting investigations stemming from whistleblower allegations and SEC enforcement and reporting issues. He has conducted investigations and reviews of large and small organizations across a range of industries in the public and private sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, retail, transportation, telecommunications, medical device, insurance and health care industries as well as government and not‐for‐profit entities. Mr. McDowell was most recently at FTI Consulting.
Mr. Bradley Lohmeyer joins Ankura with nine years of experience in financial data analytics, including several engagements related to Ponzi schemes, foreign exchange trading practices, securities lending practices and pharmaceutical litigation. His core finance background is complemented by his knowledge of core technologies, including Python, SQL Server, VBA, R, and Crystal Reports. He has extensive experience in analyzing and visualizing complex, multi‐source financial data, and he has assisted clients in solving high‐level business and legal issues involving massive amounts of electronic data, and the performance of complex data analysis, financial modeling, and data management. Mr. Lohmeyer was most recently at FTI Consulting.
