Joshua Kwicinski
Managing Director
Joshua Kwicinski is a Managing Director based in Washington, D.C. He has more than a decade of experience in advising on all aspects of the partnership lifecycle, including deal strategy, transaction structuring, ongoing governance, and restructuring/exit. He has advised senior executives and dealmakers at both a corporate and individual JV level across a range of industries, including oil and gas, metals and mining, aerospace and defense, financial services, biotechnology, and others.
Experience
Joshua joined Ankura as part of the firm’s 2020 acquisition of Water Street Partners. Prior to working with Water Street Partners, he worked as a senior associate in a boutique investment bank and consulting firm and was an intelligence officer with the Department of Defense.

Transactions
- Advised on the establishment of Fluence, a joint venture between AES and Siemens that provides industry-leading grid-scale energy storage solutions
- Advised on the establishment of Poet-DSM, a joint venture to develop and commercialize scale production of bio-based ethanol from waste agricultural feedstocks
- Advised an aerospace and defense company on the creation of a joint venture in Saudi Arabia to provide regional aftermarket support to company products
- Advised an aerospace and defense company on the creation of a joint venture in UAE to sell company products regionally
- Advised on the creation of a financial services joint venture to enable external access to Saudi capital markets
- Advised a financial services joint venture on creating a new back office support joint venture for its owners
- Advised and trained multiple deal teams across industries on capability building and creation of JV deal-making playbooks
Governance and Restructuring
- Advised a multi-partner mining joint venture on restructuring its board, committee,
and governance workings to unlock future growth and expansion opportunities - Advised a multi-partner multi-billion oil and gas company on changes to its governance
and operating model to tap into the strengths and capabilities of each partner - Advised an integrated energy company on improving the governance of its non-operated
JV portfolio by creating internal organizational structures to govern and manage key portions of the portfolio and adopting new JV governance standards - Advised a national energy company on improving the governance of its downstream
JV portfolio through changes in staffing, training, and process guidance - Advised on the sale of a hospitality supply chain joint venture to one of its owners
