Adriana Bonilla
Senior Director

Adriana Bonilla is a Senior Director in Ankura’s Office of the CFO™ practice, specializing in finance transformation, transaction execution, and back-office operational reform across carve-outs, spin-offs, wind-downs, restructurings, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations. She serves as a trusted finance quarterback on high-stakes transactions — ensuring alignment across deal teams and functional leaders while managing the financial strategies, operational infrastructure, and reporting foundations required to execute from mandate through close. What differentiates Adriana is her ability to operate across the full spectrum of finance leadership — from strategic advisor to hands-on operator in distressed, time-critical environments where financial continuity is non-negotiable, including serving as interim Controller. Her experience spans public and private sector clients across government-mandated reorganizations, post-bankruptcy carve-outs, asset-backed securitizations, wind-downs, and initial public offering readiness, with functional depth across corporate and operational finance, financial planning and analysis, controllership, and treasury.
Experience
Some of Adriana’s prior project successes include:
- Government Entity — Post-Bankruptcy Finance and Accounting Carve-Out: Designed and led the finance and accounting shared services reorganization of a government entity, including a multi-subsidiary carve-out in adherence to a court-approved fiscal plan and bankruptcy mandate. Drove business requirements, budgeting, vendor selection, and negotiations for an Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP implementation, serving as a subject matter expert on ERP design and data preparation to deliver compliant discrete and consolidated reporting on day one.
- Restructuring and NewCo Transition: Partnered with president, C-suite, and functional leaders in a highly regulated industry to lead facility wind-downs, operational restructuring, and NewCo transition planning — building the business case and execution roadmap, assessing transaction service agreements viability, and developing short-term ERP reporting solutions to enable auditable OldCo/NewCo reporting with general ledger-level detail on day 1 post-sale. Led multi-platform system cutover planning, including a Sage Intacct ERP migration, and drove business cases to close critical operational gaps including end-to-end procure-to-pay process redesign, system integrator selection, and software evaluation for leadership approval.
- Interim Controller — PE-Backed HoldCo: Assumed full ownership of HoldCo financial operations three days before close following an abrupt back-office departure, overseeing month-end close, debt accounting, intercompany fund movements, and cash positioning to maintain debt covenant compliance. Coordinated with auditors and a subsidiary undergoing an entity divestiture to ensure divestiture accounting and audit requirements were met. Managed treasury platforms and developed the governance framework for ongoing HoldCo requirements post-transaction.
- $4 Billion Wind-Down and Liquidation: Partnered with C-suite to lead planning for client exits, branch closures, and full company wind-down through an orderly ABC process, including lender negotiations, WARN deployment, and transition to a third-party trustee. Delivered scenario planning, identified wind-down costs, and provided strategic guidance through functional workshops to ensure execution certainty.
