• Akshay played a key role in collaborating with a UAE regulatory authority to raid and seize numerous devices from individuals implicated in financial irregularities worth millions of dollars. The data extracted from these devices was meticulously analyzed, providing regulators with essential information that led to subsequent actions against the entity.
• He contributed to an advisory project focused on the digital transformation of a government entity and the establishment of laboratories for their internal criminal investigations, overseeing the entire process from the ground up with a budget of USD $25 million.
• Akshay worked with a prominent UK-based law firm to manage a large-scale e-discovery effort involving over 50 custodians, covering all phases from collection through hosting for review. This matter involved highly sensitive data, requiring the UK law firm and the UK regulatory body to gain access to and review it.
• Led the email review phase of a significant sanction-related project for one of the region’s largest banks, which has a substantial presence in APAC. Akshay guided the process from initial processing to review and production, managing client communication and reporting while U.S. counsel conducted the review.
• Managed a virtual collection for one of the largest companies in the food industry in the Middle East, significantly saving the client time and costs. This approach was highly appreciated and helped foster a strong relationship with Ankura in the region.
• The GCC customs authority required a deep dive into data analytics to investigate potential revenue leakage. Akshay coordinated stakeholders across the authority to map their data sources and gain access. During this process, he assisted the client in understanding the production environment and their data frameworks, which led to successfully identifying system flaws that caused inconsistencies in reporting, perceived as revenue leakage.
• A major global healthcare technology company became involved in a complex IP dispute. Akshay led several key components, assisting the client in analyzing their data landscape and applications to support identifying and reviewing any disputed IP. This effort involved coordinating forensic data collections from over 100 laptops, servers, and other systems, processing over 4 TB of data, and employing technology-assisted review.
• Managed the forensic technology aspects of several fact-finding and investigative engagements concerning insider fraud, whistleblower allegations, and international arbitration matters for clients in the MENA region, primarily in the UAE.
• Performed forensic acquisition, preservation of digital evidence, extraction, processing, and hosting of relevant user files, emails, and logs using keyword searching as part of a fraud investigation for a global NGO in Jordan. Akshay also provided support and guidance to lawyers and executives from a firm in Japan.
• Executed collection, preservation, and processing of multiple data sources, including computing devices, servers, enterprise cloud (O365 and Gmail), mobile devices, IoT devices on various legal-tech engagements to support various investigations and disclosure matters.
