Asmir Loncarevic is a seasoned Senior Director at Ankura with over 13 years of distinguished experience in settlement administration and design, claims valuation, litigation support, trust services, and data analysis. Throughout his career, Asmir has consistently demonstrated his capacity to meet diverse client needs through participation in numerous high-profile engagements in the aviation, automotive, bankruptcy, medical device, and personal injury sectors. He is based in Washington, DC.
Experience
Asmir excels in overseeing, managing, and developing large, multidisciplinary teams of consultants and contractors tasked with evaluating claims and documents for complex, high-stakes projects. A strategic thinker and innovator, Asmir has designed, implemented, and streamlined multiple online tools to enhance budget management, project progress tracking, staffing organization, and productivity monitoring. His recent achievements include successfully closing several high-profile engagements, where he led teams to:
- Evaluate claims and medical documents from a stratified sample of 15,000 talcum powder claims
- Assess claim eligibility, review administrative foreign estate documents, research international intestacy laws, and process 346 claims for three Victims Compensation and Financial Assistance Funds related to the Boeing 737 MAX plane crashes, aiding in the distribution of $600 million
- Analyze, review, and manage the eligibility, valuation, and distribution of over $10 billion to more than 550,000 claims related to the 2.0L and 3.0L Volkswagen TDI Emissions Settlements
- Evaluate complex documents such as police reports, insurance files, accident photos, automotive computer transcripts, and medical records for over 4,300 claims of the General Motors Ignition Switch Settlement Fund, assisting in the distribution of $595 million
In addition to these roles, Asmir has been instrumental in assisting four major asbestos bankruptcy trusts and a medical device settlement, where he analyzed bankruptcy data, complaints, lien records, and releases, ensuring the accuracy of work products.
Asmir’s expertise extends to fraud prevention, having audited hundreds of asbestos tort claims for fraudulent activity and conducted internal audits at claims processing facilities. His keen investigative skills have uncovered patterns of misrepresentation and fraud by medical professionals, claimants, and law firms.
Prior to joining Ankura, Asmir served as the conference chief of staff at the American Graduate School in Paris, France, overseeing the main functions of the conference. Asmir also gained valuable experience interning at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, the Netherlands, where has was appointed to the Military Analysis Team for the Office of the Prosecutor.
Asmir is a certified fraud examiner and an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
