Chris Ventry is a Managing Director at Ankura based in New York, focused on retail performance improvement. He has over 25 years of experience and has sat on both sides of the proverbial desk as a P&L owner of, and an advisor to, some of today’s iconic retail, digital, and media companies.
Chris is a recognized leader in the digital and retail space with experience that spans from off-price to specialty to luxury markets. He has held interim/bridge leadership roles for clients, and has led multiple strategic planning, due diligence, market sizing, and operational improvement projects.
Before joining Ankura, Chris was critical in growing the performance improvement businesses of multiple leading advisory firms. He held multiple executive leadership roles at Rue Gilt Groupe (dba Gilt Groupe), including SVP and General Manager of Gilt’s men’s businesses and travel site Jetsetter. He also served as the Head of Strategic Projects and Head of Business Operations for Gilt Groupe and was the COO of luxury denim brands Rogan and Loomstate (both early adopters of the use of organic cottons and sustainable/responsible practices).
Prior to pursuing his passion for the customer and retail, Chris began his professional career in the financial services industry at HSBC Holdings PLC as an International Officer with stints in Asia, Australia, and Russia before joining HSBC’s Asset Management team where he managed multiple HSBC emerging market equity funds. Chris’ clients appreciate his quantitative and qualitative, left-brain and right-brain approach to problem solving and management.
