Javier Marcelo de la Garza

Prior to joining Ankura, Javier Marcelo served as vice president at a global strategy consulting firm, where he led the Monterrey office as part of the regional leadership team. In this role, he was responsible for identifying, developing, and closing commercial opportunities within his network in addition to training and onboarding processes for LATAM North. He managed over 15 projects across Mexico and the U.S., focusing on market assessments, corporate strategy, and internal process alignment.

Earlier in his career, Javier Marcelo held key positions at tesa and the Tchibo Group in Germany, where he was instrumental in financial controlling, strategic planning, and business development initiatives. At tesa, he was part of the business unit global leadership team, overseeing financial planning and forecasting processes. At Tchibo, he conducted financial controlling for international operations and supported mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities.

Javier Marcelo began his consulting career at a business consulting firm in Mexico, where he executed 14 projects across Latin America, specializing in customer segmentation, revenue modeling, and go-to-market strategies.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Technology Institute of Monterrey (ITESM), with a concentration in international business. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with marketing from Reutlingen University in Germany.
