Manuel Aya
Senior Director
Manuel Aya is a Senior Director at Ankura, based in Atlanta. He has extensive experience in the financial services industry with a focus on banking, capital markets, and wealth and asset management. He specializes in valuations, purchase accounting, credit modeling, and portfolio risk management.
Manuel has acted in an advisory capacity, working with hundreds of banks, credit unions and other financial institutions, providing portfolio risk management and valuation expertise. He has worked in several mergers and acquisitions, including some of the largest transactions in the regional banking and mutual savings space. Manuel has also assisted in completing valuations for distressed portfolio sales, tax reporting, financial statement disclosures, and management reporting (ASC 805, IRC 475, ASC 825, ASC 842).
Manuel also has ample experience in assisting financial institutions with credit risk modeling, including implementation and validation of credit loss models, capital stress testing, MRA remediation review and purchase accounting, including ongoing recognition of accretion and amortization related to purchase marks.
Experience
Manuel’s professional experience includes:
- Managed and performed hundreds of engagements related to the valuation of various assets and liabilities, including loan portfolios, core deposit intangible, time deposits, debt instruments, securitized obligations, loan servicing rights, other intangibles (such as customer lists and trademarks), leases, and other specialty financial products.
- Assisted several financial institutions with credit risk management, including the development and implementation of credit risk models used for CECL reserving purposes.
- Oversaw and assisted in capital and economic stress testing for several banks and credit unions under DFAST and institution specific frameworks.
