John Riley Joins Ankura as Senior Managing Director

Former Securities and Exchange Commission Acting Chief Accountant to Augment Ankura’s Audit and Disclosure Capabilities
NEW YORK – July 7, 2020 – Ankura, a global business advisory and expert services firm, today announced the appointment of John Riley as Senior Managing Director. Mr. Riley, who will be based in Washington, D.C., is a veteran of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), having served as the SEC’s Acting Chief Accountant in 1995, and brings over 40 years of collective experience as an auditor, regulator, consultant, and expert witness.

In addition to his tenure as SEC Acting Chief Accountant, Mr. Riley has led a variety of complex audit and financial reporting engagements. He is an expert at advising public companies on the application of generally accepted accounting principles to complex transactions and SEC reporting and disclosure issues. His experience also includes providing expert and consulting services to principals in civil litigation, respondents in SEC enforcement proceedings and management, and audit committees in connection with internal financial reporting investigations.

Mr. Riley is a Certified Public Accountant and certified in financial forensics. He is also a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs. Mr. Riley holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Baltimore.
