Christopher Balsley is the Chief Accounting Officer and a Senior Managing Director at Ankura, based in Washington, DC. He has over 20 years of experience in the consulting services, manufacturing, and software industries, and has tenure in both public and privately held companies.
Since joining the firm in 2011, Christopher has worked to improve the financial reporting process, implement internal controls, and develop analytical tools to assist in monitoring operations. Christopher also has led the processes to improve the firm’s information technology and human resources operations, secure financing, and mitigate risk.
Prior to joining Ankura, Christopher was a controller at OPNET Technologies, a publicly traded company that provided application and network performance solutions. Christopher managed the Sarbanes-Oxley monitoring and reporting process, was responsible for compliance with critical accounting pronouncements, and managed the software revenue recognition process.
From 2003 to 2009, Christopher was chief accounting officer and controller for SteelCloud Inc., a publicly traded company in the technology sector. There, Christopher oversaw the SOX implementation effort, improved the Securities and Exchange Commission reporting process, successfully adopted several significant accounting pronouncements, and corresponded with regulatory agencies to address compliance issues.
Christopher previously worked at Learning Tree International, where he was a key member of the team responsible for implementation of an enterprise resource planning system in several countries. He began his career at Scalamandre Silks Inc., where he oversaw the financial operations of the company and made significant improvements to the reporting processes.
