Gary Bahadur is a Managing Director at Ankura with over 20 years of information security and technology industry experience in business, information systems, and corporate strategy development, as well as client and consultant management. He has conducted security consulting and risk and compliance engagements for Fortune 1000 companies involving the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), International Organization for Standardization (IOS), Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT), The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), and other standards. He frequently speaks publicly on these topics of his expertise. He is based in the New York, NY office.

  • Experience

    Gary was recently a senior director at FTI Consulting, where he led the cybersecurity risk management practice. Prior to that, he was a Bank of America senior vice president where he redesigned the global threat management lifecycle strategy and risk forecasting strategy. While there, he served as a catalyst for delivering risk mitigation strategies and solutions where he developed initiatives to detect and mitigate daily threats against Bank of America’s operational footprint around the world and developed a new risk assessment framework to reduce overall InfoSec risk.

    Gary was also co-founder and CIO of Foundstone Inc., a $20 million security vulnerability risk management firm, which was sold to McAfee in 2004. Before that, he acted as CEO of KRAA Security, a risk and compliance consulting company focused on information security and technology strategy development. In that role, he provided the information security and IT expertise needed by companies in multiple industry verticals as they forged the roadmaps necessary to navigate their respective cybersecurity concerns. Key services included strategy development, education and training, architecture analysis, vulnerability assessments, security life cycle development, and policy and procedures development.

    Early in his career, Gary was an Ernst & Young manager, where he handled security audits and special service engagements with clients in the financial services, manufacturing, retailing, and pharmaceutical sector. There he developed over 15 security practices, practice aids, compliance frameworks, and work programs, as well as designed network security infrastructures and security interrogation processes. He helped develop and taught the firm’s professional development course on extreme hacking.
