James Quinn is a Managing Director at Ankura based in Phoenix, responsible for Post-Breach Remediation. He has nearly 30 years of experience in IT and IT security, including broad experience in investigating and mitigating targeted attacks on corporate and government networks globally in various industries including healthcare, financial, banking, and government.
James’ work includes educating boards of directors and executives of global companies and senior government leaders on critical proactive and reactive security measures, governance, and corporate readiness both to prevent breaches and in response to them. James has also served as the Chief Privacy Officer for an international technology firm.
James joined Ankura in 2021 after working at a global consulting company where he led their Risk and Compliance practice for the Americas. Before that, he worked for both startups and Fortune 10 companies in nearly all areas of IT security. James founded and managed the Incident Response team for a large European bank while living and working in Switzerland and was the head of pre-sales engineering for a global firm specializing in whole-network encryption. He also was the technical lead for the U.S. government’s FedRAMP program, where he participated in the re-write of all program guidance to comply with NIST 800-53 Revision 3.
James started his career with a decade at a major aircraft manufacturer, working on defense and space projects, including as a member of the team responsible for writing the avionics of a major bomber. James speaks several languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German. He also lectures at leading universities and serves as a speaker and panelist at cybersecurity conferences.
