Karin Dodson is a Managing Director at Ankura based in Washington, DC. For more than 10 years, Karin has advised clients on the financial, economic, and information management aspects of commercial disputes and regulatory investigations, specifically matters involving the financial services industry. She has worked on a range of engagements with topics such as loan origination and securitization into residential mortgage backed securities, acquisition due diligence, mortgage servicing operations, and numerous other areas including consumer deposit account data. She specializes in leading projects that require the management and analysis of complex data sets.

Experience

Karin’s professional experience includes:

  • Analyzed consumer deposit account data of a financial institution in response to various government inquiries and assisted internal and outside counsel with developing potential remediation strategies.
  • Assisted a financial institution and outside counsel in their production of transactional data in response to a government civil investigative demand.
  • Assisted a financial institution and outside counsel in connection with dozens of litigation matters targeting the origination, acquisition, and structuring of residential mortgages into mortgage-backed securities transactions using information mined from complex client systems and flat files.
  • Assisted a financial institution and outside counsel across several matters in reconstructing diligence performed during the acquisition of residential mortgages for the purposes of securitization. This involved leading a team through the process of compiling, loading, and synthesizing data collected from hundreds of historical documents.
  • Analyzed transactional data to determine payments made to a financial institution through the home affordable modification program in connection with a class action lawsuit.
  • Assisted with the production of loan level data from bank systems in response to a discovery order. Analyses were performed on hundreds of data sets across multiple systems to determine the responsive records in each individual table and ready the files for production.
  • Developed customized databases to support large scale underwriting reviews, evaluate due diligence processes, evaluate collateral quality and performance, and perform various comparative analyses across a range of attributes to address plaintiffs’ allegations.
