Mark Thorson

Mark’s deep experience and knowhow derive from diverse engagements assisting clients with interim management, operations management, cost control, liquidity enhancement, financial planning, post-merger integration, system implementation, and organizational development. He has broad industry experience including manufacturing, consumer electronics, oil and gas, logistics, hospitality, power generation, financial services, single family rental, home building and private aviation. Mark has worked throughout the world, including in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Some of his client engagements include:

• Logistics Company: Served as CFO while directing a private equity led roll up of four oil and gas servicing companies; maximized back-office synergies, efficiencies and cost savings
• Power Generation Company: Served as CFO designing and establishing the complete back-office platform for a private equity led carve out of a major power generation company
• Real Estate Company: Served as CAO for a private equity led post-merger integration of a large home rental company, establishing core financial processes, hiring a highly competent workforce and producing audited/restated financial statements for a company that had not successfully closed its books; established a platform for growth
• Financial Services Company: Served as CRO, stabilizing liquidity while reducing costs, managing a sale process, executing sale through a Chapter 11 process, and maximizing the return to the investors
• Defense Contractor: Served as SVP/ Controller of a US based manufacturer of body armor, leading the company through a five-year restatement, ERP implementation and multiple investigations by regulatory agencies

Prior to Ankura, Mark was a Director at Berkeley Research Group and previously, a Director at AlixPartners. Mark has also served in various senior operating, finance and accounting positions at Zenith Electronics and Tenneco. Mark started his career at Arthur Andersen.
