Matthew Mohwinkel is a Managing Director at Ankura who has 25 years of experience working with corporations and law firms on their critical complex litigation and investigations. He serves as a strategic advisor, relationship manager, and engagement leader leveraging technology and expertise to reduce risks and costs on engagements spanning numerous corporation industries and law firm practice groups. Previously, Matt worked for three global technology corporations and a Big 4 consulting company where he was an executive and team leader responsible for client account relationships and revenue generation.
Matthew’s professional experience includes:
- Fortune 10 Telecommunications Corporation: Relationship executive for client handling largest antitrust second request in history. Also, the project team implemented a dedicated secure FTP solution allowing for rapid delivery and date collections for over 150 custodians resulting in over 39 million documents for document review conducted by over 1,100 contract attorneys and outside counsel. Finally, by deploying technology assisted review, the project team reduced the total review population by nearly 64% resulting in millions of dollars in savings of contract review and outside counsel fees.
- Fortune 25 Financial Services Corporation: Team leader responsible for implementing an account-matter management program for all relationship and engagement deliverables – fixed fee master services agreement (MSA); technology development and implementation; operational protocols; and dedicated client services team. Also, the creation of a quarterly business review (QBR) with the client discovery team, in-house counsel, and primary outside counsel to address key initiatives, improvement areas, and significant matters. Finally, driving the continued evolution for leveraging analytics for structured data projects and expanding engagements to the EU and APAC regions.
- Healthcare Provider: Primary account executive for law firm client and trustee to support a complex portfolio of bankruptcy investigation and litigation matters required to access the condition of the provider’s data estate. Also, because the provider’s data was dispersed across a complex and difficult to assess series of locations and legacy databases, the project team conducted an estate-wide forensic assessment and collection concluding email volumes over 19 million messages were processed, searched, and reviewed prior to production. Finally, the project team supported the law firm and trustee by providing the core ‘data’ facts necessary for litigation briefing, interacting with government enforcement agencies, evaluating, and shaping case strategies, and substantiating its viable claims against investors and debtors.
- Hospitality Company: Business development owner retained by client and outside counsel to conduct cybersecurity assessment. Also, the project team conducted interviews with the client’s executives and other key personnel. Reviewed the client’s information security policy, incident response plan, acceptable use policy, logging policy, technology plan, and approximately 20 other documents associated with the information security program. Finally, the project team issued a comprehensive report detailing the assessment, deficiencies found, and recommendations to correct the deficiencies which the client and outside both agreed to implement for corrective action.
