Mitchell Friedman is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura with over 35 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, auditing, internal controls, remediation, and root cause analysis. He provides a broad range of expert and consulting services involving accounting advisory, auditor liability, and internal control-related matters. He is based in Washington, DC.
Before joining Ankura in 2017, Mitch was an associate director and global team leader for over 10 years in the Division of Registration and Inspections at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. While at the PCAOB, he was responsible for leading and executing the global inspections of Big Four accounting firms. In his role as global team leader, he advised accounting firms on a variety of accounting and auditing related matters including testing of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and related remediation. In addition, he worked closely with the Office of the Chief Auditor on a number of standard setting initiatives and the Division of Enforcement and Investigations on a variety of matters.
Before joining the PCAOB, Mitch was an audit partner with a Big Four accounting firm for over 26 years. In his over 14 years as a partner, he led audit engagements for large, publicly held companies. His client portfolio included consumer and industrial as well as food and agriculture companies. His experience also included assisting companies in preparation for public offerings, recapitalizations, and joint ventures. In addition, Mitch has also served as lead audit partner on not-for profit entities and has provided litigation support to various law firms.
