Carolyn Hughes is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura based in New York. With over 25 years of operations and marketing experience, Carolyn leads marketing and business development of Ankura’s Turnaround and Restructuring (T&R) practice. Her areas of focus with the practice includes business development, operations, client management, associate and professional development and experience, marketing, and events. Carolyn is also responsible for stakeholder and knowledge management which requires collaborating with senior leadership across Ankura to deliver corporate initiatives and go-to-market strategies.
Experience
Carolyn holds a multi-faceted operations role supporting senior leadership. She aligns the organization’s objectives with the T&R business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, professional recruitment, staff management, and continuing education for professionals. She is responsible for the development of the market research and business components of the T&R annual budget, as well as other metrics including utilization. She regularly works with Ankura’s corporate teams, including legal, the people office, and finance to support internal and strategic initiatives.
Carolyn manages all marketing aspects for T&R including internal communications, external client events, pitch decks, team qualifications, and client referrals and relationships. She was also instrumental in the development of the client management system, which has further enhanced the business development capabilities.
In addition to T&R, she has successfully developed relationships throughout the firm and regularly collaborates with other practice areas of Ankura in go-to-market strategies as well as cross staffing needs.
Prior to joining Ankura, Carolyn was a managing director at a global restructuring consulting firm, where she was a senior operational and marketing professional and the leader of the knowledge management group, which provided research and marketing to more than 800 global professionals.
Carolyn was formerly a managing director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the business recovery services practice, where she worked directly with the leadership team focusing on business development and marketing. Prior to the Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand merger in 1998, she was a senior consultant at Coopers & Lybrand. She was also an associate in the marketing and clearing operations department at Bear Stearns, where she was responsible for providing research and support directly to the firm’s clearing clients. Carolyn started her career at Shearson Lehman Brothers, where she successfully passed the Series 7 and Series 63 (not currently active).
