Eric C. Brodfuehrer, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP is a Managing Director at Ankura and a Licensed Architect and expert witness experienced in construction disputes and advisory services. Eric has 25 years of experience in architectural design, project management, construction claims analysis, and forensic investigations. He provide expert services to assist with the resolution of multi-million-dollar construction disputes for building owners, designers, contractors, insurers, and their counsel.
Experience
He has provided services for engagements related to healthcare, multi-family housing, higher education, corporate campus design, design build construction and international construction. Engagements typically involve analyzing and assessing defective construction, design deficiencies, errors and omissions, contract conflicts, adequacy of construction documents, change order entitlement and breaches of the professional standard of care.
Eric also has a proven track record in providing design and construction project management advisory services as an Owner’s Representative, focusing on the development of large multi-phased real estate projects as well as small renovation projects.
As a Project Architect, he has 15 years of experience managing, programming, planning, designing, and construction of complex healthcare and life sciences projects.Eric is a professionally Registered Architect in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Illinois and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), registered with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design professional (LEED AP) by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

- Professional Liability, Standard of Care, and Defective Design and Construction: Provide expert analysis of causation, liability, and economic damages related to design and construction defects arising from design quality issues, technical detailing errors, construction workmanship deficiencies, or noncompliance with industry standards and applicable codes.
- Contractual Services: Provide technical expertise in the use of AIA contracts to understand deliverables and minimize risk based on the type of facility, project delivery method, and client goals.
- Design and Construction Advisory Services: Assist in developing the owner’s vision through planning, programming, design and detailing. Provide quality control and coordination of consultants, engineers, manufacturers, general contractors and construction managers.

- County Court Facility, Nassau County, NY – Retained by the Owner to provide expert services to evaluate the impact of defective design and construction administration services on the delayed completion of a multi-phase renovation of an existing office building. These services were provided in a team effort by Ankura providing Architect Standard of Care, CM Standard of Care, Delay Analysis and Damages review.
- Highway Service Stations, NY – Retained by the Design Build entity to provide expert services in support of change order claims for programmatic scope growth and entitlement to additional Contract Sum(s) for facility changes to a network of 27 individual state highway service stations.
- Township Administration and Police Facility, Coatesville, PA – Retained by the Contractor to provide expert services in pursuit of claims against the Owner and Architect for delay damages incurred due to the Owner’s failure to provide requisite services to facilitate the work and the Architect’s defective design and faulty Construction Administration services.
- High Rise Dormitory Building, Philadelphia, PA – Retained by the roofing subcontractor to provide expert services in the defense of the installation of the EPDM Membrane and to review the design details provided for its installation for a 2 towers complex for a high education dormitory facility.
- Multi-Family Housing, Philadelphia, PA – Retained by the developer to provide expert services to evaluate defective design and Standard of Care failures by the AE to design the Project in accordance with proper performance requirements for the long-term operation of the mechanical systems.
