Jeremy Haynes is a Managing Director and licensed attorney with over a decade of experience in complex litigation, settlement design, settlement administration, claims forecasting, claims valuation, and data analysis. Jeremy has served as the head of settlement administration for some of the largest and most high-profile claims programs of the last 15 years and has managed the distribution of more than $25 billion dollars to eligible claimants and class members to date. Recent engagements include settlement administration activities, claims processing, claims auditing, and large-scale data analysis in the areas of wildfires, automotive, bankruptcy, medical device, aviation, foreign real estate fraud, and personal injury.
Experience
Jeremy acted as the head of claims administration for the $11 billion PG&E Subrogation Wildfire Trust. He managed the audit of paid insurance claims submitted to the trust for payment, calculated the quarterly payment percentages based upon the amount of eligible claims submitted to date, created claims forecasts to determine the appropriate hold back percentages, calculated payment amounts for beneficiaries based upon the relevant payment percentages and past payments, and performed large scale data analysis on pre-petition and post-petition claim data.
Jeremy also served as a member of the leadership team for the 2.0 Liter and 3.0 Liter Volkswagen Clean Diesel settlements. He helped design and operate the claims processing facility and online system that distributed over $10 billion dollars. He also acted as the director of operations and designed the protocols and processes that were used to review over 600,000 claims and oversaw a team of 25 consultants and over 300 claims reviewers.
He also acted as the head of claims administration for a redress plan related to one of the largest overseas Real Estate Investment Scams in history. He managed the operations team that conducted claim reviews, forensic accounting of the defendant’s records, and consumer outreach. He was also responsible for calculating the payment percentages used for redress payments and managed the payment process.
Jeremy served as the Claims Administrator for a multibillion-dollar Transvaginal Mesh medical device MDL settlement. Managed the claims processing facility, performed large scale data analysis, and helped design the protocols and online system used to review over 65,000 claims. He was responsible for managing the payment and lien reconciliation process for eligible claimants.
He led a team that was appointed by the Claims Administrator to evaluate claims for three separate compensation funds (totaling $600 million) for the families of the victims of the Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Air Flight 302 Boeing 737 Max plane crashes. He also managed a team that performed claim review, evaluated estate documents from over 30 countries to identify heirs eligible for compensation, and researching relevant foreign intestacy laws.
Jeremy led a team that was appointed by the Claims Administrator to design and launch a claims processing facility and call center for the Toys “R” Us Financial Assistance Fund that distributed compensation to eligible former Toys “R” Us employees after the company declared bankruptcy. He assisted in creating the valuation methodology used to determine individual claim payment amounts.
He also led a team that was responsible for creating an approved site list for a multibillion-dollar Asbestos Settlement Trust. He managed the review of over half a million records to determine what products produced by the company contained asbestos and where the asbestos containing products had been manufactured, shipped, and installed.
Jeremy assisted in the design and operation of the claims processing facility for the General Motors Ignition Switch Compensation Fund. He managed a team of consultants and attorneys that reviewed police reports, accident photos, vehicle sensor data, and company records to determine whether claims were eligible for compensation.
He also led a team that was responsible for conducting site and product research for a number of large Asbestos Settlement Trusts. He was responsible for conducting research and analysis related to exposure sites and product identification that was used to determine claimant eligibility.
