Navigating the complexities of the built environment
Construction is more complex than ever as new technologies and contracting methods reshape project delivery and as construction projects are increasingly spread across diverse geographies. Cost overruns, insufficient management controls, project delays, quality concerns, and scope changes create significant delivery risks for projects of all sizes. Understanding the origins, scale, and potential impacts of these risks is vital to the effective management of the project through the entire lifecycle.
Ankura’s expert and advisory services are relied on by contractors, owners, architects, engineers, insurers, investors, lenders, and their counsel to avoid, manage, and mitigate execution risks throughout the lifecycle of capital projects. Regional Construction Firm
A regional construction firm engaged Ankura to review 15 construction projects spread across the Middle East to evaluate procedures in six key areas: the construction contract itself, payment application, claims management, contract variation management, cost value reconciliations (CVR), and central information management. Ankura deployed 10 experienced consultants across the 15 locations to assess onsite performance on the same day of the request. Ankura’s investigation found that most projects were over-reporting value by including unapproved claims and variations, and also that margins were over-inflated during reporting of results at management level.
