Ankura Bolsters Global e-Discovery Offering with Relativity in China

February 6, 2023

Ankura further enhances its e-Discovery capabilities with the addition of Relativity in Asia

Shanghai, China – February 6, 2023 – Ankura Consulting, LLC (“Ankura”), a leading global expert services and advisory firm, today announced the further expansion of its global e-Discovery capabilities to include the on-premise e-Discovery solution, Relativity, in its Shanghai office, complementing its cloud-based RelativityOne e-Discovery solution in Hong Kong.

The introduction of an on-premise solution, combined with a highly experienced in-country team, further enhances the Firm’s ability to support clients in maintaining and analyzing data locally, catering to the ever-evolving data protection landscape. This on the ground capability also allows for localization of data, a critical factor for matters based in the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”).

The latest Relativity offering in China builds on the Firm’s RelativityOne platforms and server solutions currently offered in India, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Germany, the United States, and with Australia scheduled for launch in early 2023, underscoring Ankura’s expanded global solutions and capabilities. The globally standardized processes and multiple geographical hosting capabilities at Ankura enable multi-jurisdictional matters to be carried out seamlessly without duplication of effort and reducing the need for sensitive data transfers.

Chris Marks, Senior Managing Director and Leader for Data & Technology in APAC at Ankura, said: “This expansion enables us to better serve clients with document review needs within the PRC. The growing legal framework of the Data Security Law, Cybersecurity Law, and Personal Information Protection Law, alongside the long-held requirement to consider States Secrets, make document review and cross border matters more complex than ever.”

Han Lai, Senior Managing Director in Ankura’s Data & Technology practice in Shanghai, added: “The vast experience of our Greater China team in assisting with cross border sensitive client matters, coupled with our ability to host and review large amounts of data, underpins the continued growth of our local team and our ability to help clients with their most complex and challenging needs.”

The Ankura Global Data & Technology practice is comprised of more than 300 professionals experienced across a spectrum of disciplines including digital forensics, data analytics, cyber security, data privacy, and information governance.
